The MetaHism is an artistic movement that expresses and embodies the human mind as a meta-paradigm.This Art of consciousness, connects a global vision of the visible and invisible events simultaneously. META, because expressing the Whole, ISM as the concept and universal suffix, which we find in all the movements and H, eight letter of the alphabet, (letter of the infinity, ∞, lemniscate) separating and unifying.

ART & PARADIGM*

* The word paradigm has been used in science to describe distinct concepts. It comes from Greek “παράδειγμα” (paradeigma), “pattern, example, sample” from the verb “παραδείκνυμι” (paradeiknumi), “exhibit, represent, expose” and that from “παρά” (para), “beside, beyond” + “δείκνυμι” (deiknumi), “to show, to point out”. Laumond’s body of work presents a paradigm, a sustained meditation on life and death, on plurality, certainty in uncertainty, balance in unbalance, tensions in space and time, objectivity in subjectivity…

An original paradigm :

“Our own perception guides and shapes the process of what we know.”

“My search is about how to express a model of the whole universe in a comprehensive body of work. I explored the notion of the void, creating works that generate a multidimensional space and seem to destabilize our assumptions about the world and express dualities such as reality and illusion, solidity and intangibility, certainty and uncertainty…How to shape questioning, doubts, assumptions and human condition? In this conceptualization it appears I can express any form of representation or thoughts in a paradigm of unity.” Laumond

We can say that his work shapes “the complex thought” developed by the famous French philosopher and sociologist Edgard Morin. We can say he offers a cross-cultural vision of religion, science, and human or political issues.

Laumond’s search is about how to express a model of the whole universe in a comprehensive body of work. He explores the notion of the void, creating works that generate a multidimensional space and seem to destabilize our assumptions about the world and express dualities such as reality and illusion, solidity and intangibility, certainty and uncertainty…

When I first met Laumond in 2005, he was showing his works at the contemporary artfair St’art, in Strasbourg. At that time, it appeared to be the very beginning of a work he was compelled to nurture and that would take him to a singular and vast journey. At the beginning, this “body of work” started with a stain, a deep surface of monochrome, intensively worked and designed, a splash that represents the Big Bang. His academic training in industrial ceramic and at Olivier de Serres in Paris gave him an extreme sense of how to shape colours and textures. This was followed by the birth of white works, which represent infinity, eternity and the “all possible”. These white works allowed him to give all possible shapes, volumes, sizes, identities, like words in a phrase, or symbols in a pictograph system. He began to create his own language. Going on with this genesis, he segmented the work in volumes. Some are with stain and others all white. All of them are linked by a grey line that divides and unifies the space.

Here comes his language of a paradigm. This representation inhabits a spatial frame and the volumes are multiplied under different forms and sizes. (Square, thin, small, large, upside-down…). The work entails accumulation, segmentation, expansion or combining all volumes together.

An interweaving installation leading to Universality :

This leads to an organic vivid interweaving installation. The fundamentals of this body of work allow articulating the projects in any particular space whatever its volume, size, architecture or constraints. Through this scheme he can give the whole installation a special meaning (philosophical, mathematical, religious, sociological, physical…). This body of work becomes then his representation of a Universal World, a representation of the symbols for the “all possible”.

In each of his projects we can find the idea of duality. Things can happen or not, there is a possible choice and hope is in each human being that can change the whole scheme. The works also include in their spatial representation a starting point (volume with stain), a middle point (main story) and any possible end (white volumes)…

A visual sysnesthesia :

His works entail a visual synesthesia - His volumes are woven together into a new way of perceiving and understanding the world. He offers a unique vision of a paradigm; a representation of what he considers as a vision of Universality, he proposes a different kind of knowing, understanding and showing the world, using intuition as an access to reality.

Each series of projects entails a similarity in term of language, though specific in meaning and each and every one represents a special symbolic aspect of the subject he chooses to develop. At the core of each project, we can trace the idea of apparent duality and of its possible extension: emotion and reason, compassion and wisdom, realism and idealism…

Lead by empathy and right brain - Holographic universe :

Right brain is the one, which allows a perception of the whole, a perception of infinite space and time. It is the brain that captures an invisible link between being, things and their environment. Laumond’s vision of the world is a holographic perception, which means that “the part and the whole are always interconnected. One finds the whole in the part and the part in the whole, and the whole is always larger than the sum of the parts”. His scope is far broader than it can appear at first sight. He doesn’t stand apart from the subject, whether he describes a philosophical concept, or a religious one, or a scientific one, he always feels included in it rather than being an external observer, and he immerses himself deeply in it and is represented in the work as a part of it.

A vision of Art history :

One can think of so many potential links with existing art, abstraction, conceptualism, minimalism, land art… It appears his body of work acts as a global unification of different possible means of expression and creates a link between most of them. We can figure out his search is about how to shape a vision that cannot be closed, and is an attempt to capture and represent its complexity and mystery.

Laumond represents the deep relationship between traditional polarities, and there is an underlying spiritual thread running throughout his representation of the world, his holographic vision. He addresses such a variety of issues that he already created more than 5000 transcriptions in his sketchbooks. Always in movement, he keeps on searching and creating new “ideas worth spreading”.
